If you look at any glass system in a commercial building, and in many
insulated non-wood residential window units, etc, there will always be
cushion space between the plate glass and its supporting frame to allow for
expansion, contraction, and flexure. It's no different here. As Alan
stated, I'll get my hands on the glass first (several sets) and turn the
bezels to suite, allowing a space for flexure. (Over here, as likely as
not, some idiot is going to eventually try to "help" push or lift the loco
by the spectacle plate!) In my own case (after all assembly and painting
is done), I'll set the lenses in a bed of silicone caulk.
