Al,
My shaper is a generic 8" Industrial one, and is the one that Dick Clements
owned.
I believe it dates from the 1950's and is built like the proverbial
battleship.
Weighs in at half-a-ton, so it is solid and quiet in operation.

I will certainly agree with you about the hypnotic
effect of the Shaper! What kind do you have? I have
a 7" South Bend that is so quiet the only sound you
hear is the chip coming off the workpiece.
