Alan,
I use self-etch primer GBP-#988 from Sherwin-Williams Automive Finishes with
very good results although I doubt quoting a US product does one any good. I
probably would have a difficult time finding "Quimby's Coverall #23" over here.
I began using this particular product because it was what my nearest
professional automotive paint supplier had on their shelf and my only
reservation would be that it's rather heavy bodied (it's an aerosol) which may
not be the best for smaller models. However I've used it a number of times for
various components in Gauge 1, and being an automotive product it's intended
primarily for steel, but I've used it on brass with satisfactory results.
Regards,
Harry
