Alan,
I have used an etch primer produced by Phonex Paints. It is a matt finish
and I have used it as the main coat. BY the time I washed the loco down a
few times and gave it the once over with WD40 the paint took on a semi gloss
finish. It has withstood the test of time.
I recently tried to track the distributors in Sydney but they have long
gone.
Etch primers are usually only put on as a mist coat with the undercoat
applied as soon as the etch primer went off. Depending on Weather conditions
= 10 - 20 minutes.
Regards,
John
