Subject: [modeleng] Eliminating irritating No virus found ... AVG Free
edition
A number of list members are now using AVG Free Edition anti-virus. I
personally find AVG very effective, but by default it does append to all
outgoing messages the irritating, visually confusing, and functionally
redundant text shown below. Other than to advertise AVG's product it serves
no useful purpose, since virus defence is really the recipient's
responsibility, and hackers and spammers have learnt to append similar text
to their e-mails in order to instill a false sense of security in the minds
of their victims.
Senders can eliminate this redundant text by a simple change in AVG settings
as follows:
1/ From the Windows 'Start' menu open 'AVG Control Centre'.
2/ Double-click on the 'E-mail Scanner' item.
3/ Click on the 'Configure' button.
4/ Un-tick the 'Certify mail' box beneath 'Check outgoing mail'
5/ Click on the 'OK' button
HTH
Regards
Edward
