[modeleng] Diamond Files (was: favourite tools)

The ones I have are made by Edge Craft in the USA.

The set consists of a handle with magnetic holder, plus three "blades",
fine, medium, and coarse.

The latter is excellent at sharpening garden tools, (put a decent edge on a
spade and see how much less effort is required) and general rough work.

The fine one will even sharpen tungsten-carbide tool inserts, and get a
keener edge than the makers do.

Medium and fine both make excellent files, on everything I can think of.
They will file anything from finger nails, to hardened steel pins, and leave
a superb finish.
I have been using the fine one in place of fine emery cloth, with excellent
results.

They claim that these are indestructible, and they do seem to be so far.
As I get them replaced if they go blunt or break, I am trying my hardest to
get some new ones, but failing miserably!

Cast Iron? No trouble at all. Even if there are sand inclusions, they cut
right through everything.
