I don't know where you live, but here in the USA copyrights are secured from
the patent office at a very reasonable fee.  I have several photos that I
had copyrighted several years ago so I don't recall what it cost, but it
wasn't very much.  A copy right is not going to give protection like a
patent would so if you have a design for a machine (for example) it is not
going to give you any protection except from someone copying your design,
not actually making the item.

You can get the necessary forms by calling the patent office and if you need
more, you are free to make all the copies you need. The forms are self
explanatory BTW.   Like I said, it has been a number of years since I
secured the copyrights and I am sure things have changed a bit.
