Al,
Yes a lot of the small copper boilered steamers are/were spirit fired as
were the little Weeden® toy stationary engines. These days the fuel is in
sugar cube size pieces that seem to burn like alcohol in that their flame is
low and blue. I wonder if one could sell those cubes to the winos on State
Street in St. Louis????? Nah, that would be like Terry and his high priced
feed corn. Gin soaked caviar might be cheaper! I wonder if I should take
some dried corn with me to burn in my Shay at the mini-meet in a couple of
weeks. That is a thought, I might just do that and try it for a while.
Oh, For those in the Tennessee/Kentucky area, the Adams, TN gas/steam show
is the 15th and 16th of July and the mini-meet at MSLS is on the 8th and
9th.of July..
