[modeleng] Re: Corn

John,

I look for more reports to come in over the next few days so maybe we will
stumble upon someone who has or has seen actual experience at burning corn.
Surely if corn cobs worked as fuel for Kloppenburg, then the corn itself
should be better as it is much denser. It was/is a long shot, but surely
someone has tried it considering the amount that has been burned in pellet
stoves over here. Of course, pellet stoves have a pretty good blast of air
from a mechanical blower and that may be better than our steam blowers, but
I dunno. I would say that Bill Bowser, our resident Mechanical Engineer, is
probably right in that it would heat about the same as wood, so if one can
burn wood, then corn should work as well as it has approxitudely the same
heat value as wood. No way is it going to approach the heat value of coal,
but let's not give up just yet as there may be a "late report" come through.

I liked the one where the bloke put popcorn in the firebox. I imagine that
would be a bit disconcerting to hear those pops and wondering if stay bolts
were snapping! RITFLMAO [:>)
