Hi Alan
I've just searched out a close-up photo I took of no. 2500 at York, where the
flash has lit up the cab interior to some extent. It clearly shows that the
colour was black up to waist height, and a sort of tan brown/buff colour above.
I'm pretty sure I've also seen this colour on black fives.
I'll send you the picture off-list and you can make up your own mind.
Of course, it could be that practices differed between Crewe, Derby and Horwich!
Regards
Ron

Subject: [modeleng] Cab colour
As I mentioned before, I am rebuilding and repainting a Jubilee, which is
based upon the Stanier 2-6-4 tank.
I had always assumed that the inside of the cab was black, but at one of the
recent exhibitions, someone had an LMS loco with the cab interior painted a
straw colour.
(Rather nice and much easier to see things there.)
I dont know if this applied to all LMS locos, or if it was aaccurate
representation of the original.
Can anyone tell me what colour the cab interior should be?
Alan
