No, you are not imagining it although never having tried it, I cant tell you
the exact procedure.
I believe it is, a strong (saturated?) mix, and pour on /in ( a dam made of
plasticine round the hole might be a good idea) and leave for some time(?).
No doubt someone has the full details.

I seem to remember that previously the use of a solution of alum has been
recommended to remove a broken tap from a bronze casting.
Am I imagining this? If this is a way out of this predicament, what is the
method used and the mix of the solution?
