[modeleng] Re: Breaking up computers

Thanks, All for the advice (keep 'em coming)

I was most surprised to hear that beryllium might be present, except as
beryllium copper, in view of its toxicity and carcinogenity. It is one of the
very few elements I have never knowingly handled on account of this in some
forms. (I'm afraid I have used about 25% of the IARC Category 1 carconogens but
not beryllium) One of its early names was glucinium since the lab test for it
was to taste for sweetness! They were wild in the old days. Not to mention
short lived.

As Rich says there may in fact be some elemental beryllium in high level
computer drives; I commend caution. I shall certainly be exercising it despite
these being cheap drives.
