Subject: [modeleng] Boiler feed arrangements
Hi chaps,
I've recently acquired another 5" gauge tank loco, which with a little bit
of work, could be made into a runner. The engine has two injectors, but no
hand pump or axle pump.
Now injectors being what they are (fussy, especially on a tank loco on a
warm day), I want to add a hand pump as a back-up. The boiler has only two
clacks (one for each injector) and I don't want to give up an injector for
the sake of the hand pump.
What I intend to do is to fit a tee into one of the delivery pipes and
connect the hand pump to that, with the injector feeding straight through
and the hand pump delivering into the leg of the tee. I will of course
have to fit a non-return valve to the delivery end of the injector.
Can anyone see a problem with this arrangement?
Regards
Ron
