[modeleng] Re: Blowing down

The "sectionalized" boiler I saw at the Mid-South meet a few years back was
still capable of being blown down despite the fact that the interior was
almost solidly filled with rusty looking crud. It had sort of a tunnel down
through the mess to the blowdown valve. I have no idea how the boiler had
been able to generate enough steam to even move the locomotive, much less
allow it to operate long enough for a ride. I bet someone on the Chaski
list knows where the pieces of that boiler are as it was owned by a company
who built the replacement boiler.

I just ordered a fibre optic device from Horror Freight that may allow one
to look into a boiler through an inspection hole. 18" long at 229 dollars
US.
