[modeleng] Re: Barely on-topic as it is quiet

The tales I could tell!! I gave a middle aged couple a ride on our black
five when running round at Bridgnorth. After opening the regulator and just
moving, I notch it to 55%, at which, the male said " I didn't realise you
had to steer these things" . A polite simple description out him right.

You would not believe how many people get on the footplate and ask if the
reverser(screw) is the steering bit. Worse with the Standard 4 tank or the
class 75, they have a big wheel, the mangle we call it, try shunting and you
lose all love for a decent engine.

Alan,

Nice one!

Several times passengers who have just alighted from a train I was driving
have peered into the cab of the locomotive and asked "Where is the steering
wheel?" Some of them were, allegedly, adults!

Regards,

Barrie
