It will also reduce the number of boiler makers, at which they were
excellent.
As for prices, I understand that back in the later Stuart Turner days, the
models werent making money, and only the pump side of the business was
profitable.
From price rises since then, by Chedder and J & B, it seems that prices for
made in UK goods are at or above what the market will bear.

Yes, and that will leave a void in the marine power plant market.
IIRC they were the ones who orginally bought off the entire Stuart
"Models" operation fom Stuart Turner, when they decided to divest
themselves of the model business. Once Cheddar got hold of it prices
escalated rapidly and quality plunged, in the process doing as lot of
damage to the Stuart name, and sales dwindled quickly. To this day
pre-Cheddar kits or castings are still sought after.
Once it was apparent that their acquisition of Stuart Models line was
not working Cheddar sold that part of the business off to Jones & Bradburn
who have brought it back to what it is today. Some of the small changes
they've made to their kits don't make sense but I have to assume that they
are due to production requirements.

Harry
