Higher scrap prices are no urban legend around here, new metal prices 
have jumped
as well.  One of my local foundries told me they are no longer able to 
buy steel in
100,000 lb lots.  A rifle manufacturer told me that rifle barrel stock 
is hard to get.
I was told this week that Oregon Steel mill in McMinnville has shut down 
for lack
of scrap steel on which to operate.
