HSBC bought  the old Midland Banlk, and I wouldn't touch them with a barge 
pole. At one time, my salary went from one Midland Bank branch on 28th of 
the month to another branch. It NEVER 'arrived' before the 7th of the 
following month: when I complained, I was told that if I didn't like it, I 
should go elsewhere.
After they bounced a cheque on the 6th that would have put me 37p 
overdrawn, I did - and I will never have anything to do with them again. I 
would believe anything about them coming up with a way to rip off a 
customer.
