[modeleng] Re: 3" Burrell

Hi Andy,

No joy on the damper rod, but Koyo bearings have one way clutches. The one
on your Burrell oiler may just need cleaning or the shaft may be worn. For
these clutches to work properly the shaft should be hardened and it must be
within the clutch makers' tolerance for it.

Their PDF for these clutches is at

http://www.ahrinternational.com/PDF_catalogues/KOYO/cat286ex_Sprag_type_one-
way_clutches.pdf

NTN also make them and can be reached at sales-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Davall in the UK and Stcok Drive Products in USA also carry them but the
cost may be high.

For cleaning up the port face, could you stop up the ports with RTV silicone
sealer? After lapping with progressively finer grinding pastes and finally
Brasso, the silicone sealer could be removed with a wood screw wound in, and
then pulled out like a corkscrew. This should wipe out any paste in the
ports and pull it upward. Any micro bits of silicone rubber falling in would
likely pass through the cylinder and out the stack without hurting anything.

Good luck, Jeff Dayman Waterloo Ontario Canada

someone might be able to help. I have just taken on responsibility for
maintainance of the clubs traction engine, and like a lot of club engines it
has suffered from the lack of love and care that we give our own models. Is
there anyone who could please send me a scan of the drawing for the damper
operating rod so I can make a new one to replace the missing one? Don't ask
me where it went but it isn't there now ! The other problem I have is the
lubricator. This the type that uses small non return clutches. Do these
clutches wear out or is it the shaft which is more likely to wear? Can
anyone tell me where I can get them from, the ones on the model are about
1/4 OD. Finally the regulator leaks quite badly and the port face is a bit
rough and ready! Without taking the cylinder block of and mounting it on the
mill any suggestions how I can clean the regulator port face up so it seals?
I thought about using va

passages to the cylinder.
