Dear Missbirders,
Recently, at my request, the Mississippi Ornithological Society (MOS) assumed
responsibility for the administration and maintenance of the Missbird
listserv. Missbird was begun in 1997 by Dr. Marvin Davis, an inspirational
mentor to many birders of my generation. After his death in 2005, I took
over as administrator and have done so for the past twelve years. It’s
time for me to pass the baton on to others. The List Administrators will
now be J.R. Rigby and Jason Hoeksema, names familiar to everyone on the
list. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my association with Missbird, and value all
of your contributions to birding in Mississippi. Being woefully inadequate
as a disciplinarian, I appreciate how well-behaved and polite Missbird
subscribers have been over the years. Hopefully, as administrator, I
haven’t ruffled too many feathers! For now, I’ll just continue to lurk on
the list and occasionally post on what’s happening at Toccopola. Good
birding to all.
