I heard a MS Kite and then a strange Red-shoulder Hawk call Saturday
afternoon while playing golf at LeFluer's Bluff. Then I saw the Blue Jay
flying off while still calling like a hawk and pointed this out to my
friend, how it was imitating a hawk. I had about 40 Jays near my house
fussing recently and saw no raptor to cause such commotion.

Boat Ramp, Common, Red-throated and Pacific. Loons seem to be preparing for
their Northward migration as many were seen flying up and down the lake and
most are now well into the transition to Breeding plumage.
Yesterday morning at the Tupelo Treatment ponds six Black-bellied
Whistling Ducks flew in after the rain stopped shortly after daybreak.
They did not stay long and flew off to the East. This is the second
sighting of the species in Lee County.
