Which is normally a big "no-no!" in assembly :-)
But thinking of it: could you try whether setting the default quality of reads
to 1 (-AS:bdq=1) leads to something that you'd be more comfortable with?
Because that should trigger -CO:fnicpst to go for a majority vote for every
disagreement it finds.
