[mira_announce] New version 2.9.44x4

Dear all,

most importantly, this version contains fixes to all bugs which have been 
reported for 2.9.44x2 and 2.9.44x3. The status is unchanged: it's a test 
version for the new assembly routines and will not appear on the official 
download pages.

Please give it a try on your favourite data. If no more show-stoppers appear,
