Enhanced Paint Program
http://www.eecs.wsu.edu/paint.net/
If you use the Paint graphics program built into Microsoft's operating systems,
you have probably wished from time to time for an enhanced version. You don't
need all the fancy features (or high price) of packages like Adobe's PhotoShop
or even Corel's less expensive but still a little pricey PhotoPaint, but you'd
like a little more than Paint offers, and you'd like it at no cost. No problem!
Some folks at Washington State University got permission and help from
Microsoft in making a new version of Paint, which they call Paint.NET. It will
do a lot of the things that the commercial graphics programs do. You can even
use layers. If you're looking for a good graphics program but don't want to pay
for it, check this out.

End Task To Solve System Lockup
Did a program on your Windows XP system just lock up?
Chances are, you can get back to work without rebooting.
Simply end that task.
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del on your keyboard to open the Task Manager. On the
Applications tab, you should see one item that reads "Not Responding" under
Status (if not, you will in a few seconds, try closing and re-opening the Task
Manager).
Select that application, click End Task and you'll see a message telling you
the selected application is not responding. Click End Now then wait as Windows
ends the task. You should be able to re-open that application and get back to
work.
(Note: Unfortunately, in some cases, the above steps won't work and you'll need
to reboot entirely.)

Intro to Spyware
http://www.spywareguide.com/txt_intro.php
There are a lot of differing opinions on what the definitions of Parasiteware
Spyware,
Adware and Malware should be.
In order to help you we have provided brief definitions in this miniature spy
primer.
ParasiteWare
ParasiteWare is the term for any Adware that by default overwrites certain
affiliate tracking links.
These tracking links are used by webmasters to sell products and to help fund
websites.
The controversy is centered on companies like WhenU, eBates, and Top Moxie, a
popular maker
of Adware applications. These companies have release their software to assist
users in getting
credit for rebates, cash back shopping, or contributions to funds. To the end
user ParasiteWare
represents little in the way of a security threat.

Wrapped URL's
Sometimes you may encounter a long URL (web address) that wraps onto more than
one line.
The long URL may wrap and need to be pasted back together.
A trick for this is to click Reply to the email and put the URL back together
and copy and paste it into your browser.
Then delete the pending email you used to put the address back together.

Antivirus software is a good choice to scan your system for possible viruses,
however no virus scanner is 100% effective as manufactures cannot keep up with
the rapid change of viruses that happens daily.
Be sure to update yours regularly.
