Windows Grep free
http://www.wingrep.com/
The premier text searching tool for Windows 9x and NT - the choice of software
developers the world over.
Don't take our word for it - download a fully functioning non-time expiring
copy today!
Windows Grep is a tool for searching files on your disks for occurrences of
text strings that you specify. Although Windows and many other programs have
file searching capabilities built-in, none can match the power and versatility
of Windows Grep. The program combines the power and flexibility of traditional
command line grep utilities available on DOS, UNIX and other platforms with the
ease of use of Microsoft Windows.

In addition to searching, Windows Grep can also perform global replacing in
your files, with complete safety.

Windows Grep is designed for searching plain-ASCII text files, such as program
source, HTML, RTF and batch files, but it can also search binary files such as
word processor documents, databases, spreadsheets and
executables.

HIJACKING THE ?HIJACKTHIS? NAME
http://aumha.org/elist.cgi/2005/04/25#20050423-1

Merijn Bellekom is a real hero to every serious soldier in the war against
adware, spyware, browser hijackers, and other parasitic software. Now, the good
name of his most amazing product is being ripped off in a way that may put
unsuspecting end-users at increased risk.

Merijn is the author or numerous important tools in the parasite wars. His two
most significant creations are CWShredder ? for a long time the primary tool in
fighting the prolific and multifaceted CoolWebSearch parasite ? and HijackThis,
a sophisticated expert?s tool in wide use as a primary instrument in cleaning
computers in all but simple cases. It would be impossible for me to overstate
the importance of HijackThis ? many of us helping end-users clean their
infected machines find that we live and breathe by HijackThis every single day.

After developing CWShredder as far as he could take it (in the face of ongoing
significant mutation of the parasite), Merijn transferred the product to a
third party developer that still gives it away for free, partly as a community
service and partly to promote its commercial cleaning products. But HijackThis
remains completely in Merijn?s control, to all of our benefit. Despite this, a
suspicious ? some might say insidious ? commercial software company has
hijacked the name.

Hijack-this.net has been registered by by XoftSpy. One apparent purpose is to
leverage the widespread good name of HijackThis to draw people to XoftSpy?s own
products. This, per se, isn?t any dirtier that many legitimate business moves,
though it is misdirecting ? and it may be dangerous to end-users as well. Why
dangerous? Well, XoftSpy is, at best, a suspicious entity. You can find them
listed and discussed on Eric L. Howes? Rogue/Suspect Anti-Spyware Products &
Web Sites page, my standard reference for current information on suspect
betrayware products. ?Betrayware? is software that pretends to protect you
while really stabbing you in the back ? security software that is, itself, a
security risk. According to Eric, XoftSpy has done a great deal in recent
months to clean up its act, so it may not be so bad a thing as it used to be ?
but it is clear to me that they are not completely done with shady tricks. Now
that people are going to be led to their product while searching, in good
faith, for Merijn Bellekom?s HijackThis utility, it?s important that everyone
know a bit about the product.

Windows XP Sp2 -- FAQs & Best Practices
http://aumha.org/win5/a/sp2faq.htm
More on this later -- just a quick announcement now -- I have just added a
new page to the site, "Windows XP Sp2 -- FAQs & Best Practices"
(http://aumha.org/win5/a/sp2faq.htm). Eventually it will incorporate all
information developed on forum of the same name. At present, it has itemized
links to individual items on the SP2 forum, and should prove to be your best
starting point for information about SP2 installation and special issues.

Selection Savvy

Ever need to make more than one choice in a list box?
(A list box is basically an item by item list. You've probably seen them on web
pages or in computer
programs you've used. Outlook Express uses a list box to display its list of
messages.)

Here's how:
1. Click the first item on the list you would like to have selected.
2. Next, while holding down the SHIFT key, click the last item you would like
selected.

That's it, the first and last selected items are now highlighted, as well as
everything in between.

OK, so what if you just need specific items selected, not whole sections?

That's easy too. Hold down the CTRL key while making your selections.
As long as the CTRL key is down, you can click select individual items on in a
list box.

Note that not all list boxes support multiple selections.
