Freecycle
    http://freecycle.org/
The worldwide (!) Freecycle Network is made up of many individual groups
across the globe. It's a grass roots movement of people who are giving
(& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. Each local group is run by a
local volunteer moderator (them's good people). Membership is free.

One rule: everything posted must be free.
Whether it's a chair, a fax machine, piano, or an old door to be given
away, it can be posted on the network.
Or, maybe you're looking to acquire something yourself?
Respond to the poster directly and you just might get it.

Have fun and keep on Freecyclin'!
++ There is more on the web site.

X-RayPc Spyware Remover
http://www.x-raypc.com/
As the spyware versus anti-spyware battle rages on, we were looking for good
tools that allow a user to examine the contents of his machine and to take
corrective actions against those. An excellent candidate for this is
"HijackThis" by Merijn, which is already in use by plenty of "anti spyware
experts". We felt that it HJT could be improved upon in some ways and thus
the idea for X-RayPc Spyware Remover was born. We took the best parts of the
HJT concept and linked it up to the SpywareGuide database. The result is
something like a systems management tool with build-in expert system.

Portable Thunderbird 0.9 (USB Drive-Friendly)
http://johnhaller.com/jh/mozilla/portable_thunderbird/
- with extensions support!
Thunderbird supports running from removable drives with minimal
reconfiguration. To make life even easier, I've repackaged Thunderbird as a
complete, removable drive-friendly email client. This grew out of a
mozillaZine forum topic on making Firefox portable back in June of 2004.
I've added this mozillaZine thread for questions and comments. If you don't
get an answer there, you can also contact me.
(Note: Portable Firefox is also available.
http://johnhaller.com/jh/mozilla/portable_firefox/ )

Download / Disclaimer
This is an unofficial package. It is an official build, but has been
modified and a specialized launcher added to make extensions portable. No
warranty is expressed or implied.

10,000 downloads and counting...

Download Portable Thunderbird 0.9 Now (ZIP Format) (7.73Mb download / 10.6Mb
uncompressed)
Installation / Use
To install, just download the ZIP and unzip it to the root directory of your
USB drive. It will create a "thunderbird" directory and all the requisite
directories underneath. To use Thunderbird on your drive, launch it with the
PortableThunderbird.exe file in the thunderbird directory. DO NOT launch the
thunderbird.exe file directly, as this will create a profile on your hard
drive.

Plan ahead ~ What if?

A topic came up on one of the groups I belong to which may help others.

Many of us have friend on the internet and in various group, but how would
they know if you were to die or were otherwise unable to access the web.
Would your mail eventualy start bouncing and they loose track of you
thinking that you changed your address?

I have a letter put with my will and important papers that contains my
computer password, and the location on my computer to find a farewell
letter to all my friends. There is also a floppy with the info and links to
all the group list owners and my friends.

Feel free to share this idea with your friends it may help someone.

problems facing email users today. Mozilla Thunderbird follows last month's
highly successful release of Mozilla Firefox 1.0 that has been downloaded by
over nine million users.

Today's announcement marks the immediate availability of Thunderbird 1.0 for
Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux-as a free download from mozilla.org and by CD

however no virus scanner is 100% effective as manufactures cannot keep up with
