Security patches for Yahoo! Messenger and Yahoo! Chat -
 Oxygen3 24h-365d, by Panda Software
(http://www.pandasoftware.com).

Madrid, June 2, 2003 - According to an article published by CNET at
http://news.com.com/2100-1032_3-1011847.html
Yahoo! has released patches for its instant messenger and chat clients,
which correct a vulnerability that allows arbitrary code to be run on
affected computers. For this reason, since last Friday when Yahoo users log
on to Instant Messenger or enter a chat room, they will be prompted to
update their software.

This vulnerability is considered critical, as it consists of a buffer
overflow in the 'Voice Chat' function in Yahoo! Messenger and Yahoo! Chat.

The security implications of this flaw range from a Denial of Service attack
(DoS), which forces the user to log out of a Messenger or chat session, to
the execution of arbitrary code on the affected computer.

In order to carry out the attack, the victim must view a certain malicious
HTML code. Therefore, in order to exploit this vulnerability, an attacker
could try to persuade a user to visit a specially crafted web page.

Although Yahoo! is not aware of any attacks carried out using this
vulnerability, it recommends users immediately apply the patches.

Pest Zappers by Scott Spanbauer
 http://www.pcworld.com/reviews/article/0,aid,110654,tk,wb060203x,00.asp
More utilities than ever claim to vanquish viruses and smash spyware.
Our tests prove they're not all created equal.

Using a computer without taking protective measures is like playing a game
of Russian roulette. Most e-mail messages, Web sites, and programs aren't
loaded with anything harmful. But sooner or later, every system will take a
hit from malware--any malicious programs or code that can damage or disrupt
the victim's PC.

The security software we review here--antivirus scanners and their
anti-spyware cousins--provide essential defenses. Our tests show that the
top antivirus scanners stop almost all the nasties they are designed to
catch. But antivirus software does little, if anything, to stop spyware such
as surveillance programs or ad-serving apps that monitor your surfing
habits. So you need anti-spyware to fill the gap. This two-part review looks
at both types of packages--and chooses the best.

Particle Jam game
 http://www.nstorm.com
Particle Jam is a fast paced game of challenge and skill with multiple
scoring opportunities and a few hidden surprises.

Before particles completely fill the screen, click on 3 or more of the same
color to disintegrate them.
Use the mouse to click on particles. Score points for groups of 3 or more.
The bigger the group, the more points you score.
Use the Jammer Bar to disintegrate all particles in its path. Activate the
Jammer Bar by clicking on it or using the spacebar. Jammer Bar size will
increase in later levels giving you more disintegrating power.
But watch out for The Reactor Particle which will cause a chain reaction
that triggers a particle storm.
Try to disintegrate the chain before it reaches the top.

Change your IE Cache size in Windows XP
In Windows XP IE6 the settings from Microsoft reserves 10% of your drive
space for the Temporary Internet Files.

When we had smaller hard drives thes was not a great amout of space.
But with the introduction of larger hard drives, like 20gig, you will end up
with a 2 gig cache, which is a waste of hard drive space.

You can change the amount of Internet cache.
Close Internet Explorer and Outlook Express.
Goto Start> Control Panel> Internet Options> General tab
Click Settings and move the slider to 50mb, click Ok
Click 'Delete Files' and also select: 'Delete all offline files', click Ok
Click 'Clear History', click Ok> Apply> Ok

Antivirus software is a good choice to scan your system for possible viruses,
however no virus scanner is 100% effective as manufactures cannot keep up with
the rapid change of viruses that happens daily.
Be sure to update yours regularly.
