File Find! - "copyToXP" [5 KB\EXE]
http://www.basementnoises.com/free4u/dl129.htm
This week's file is for Windows XP users only, I'm afraid.
I haven't been able to find anything similar for Windows versions prior to
XP, so if any readers know of something
similar-freeware-they'd like to share, please do!
copyToXP is a quick Registry file tweak that adds two menu items that
Microsoft neglected to the XP context (right-click)
menus: "Move To..." and "Copy To..."
No more opening folders and dragging files from one to another:
just select the Move To or Copy To option and you can select a folder--or
make a new one if your needs dictate!
Best of all is the author's dedication:
"Thanks to mom and dad for all the support and millions of dollars
investments on my studies so I could make complex pieces of software such as
this and maybe help mankind..."
From "Noises from the Basement"...........

Wipe Out
http://www.code-it.com/wipe_out.htm
Wipe-out v2.4 secure wipe/deletion software
Released as freeware 11.24.2002.
"Wipe-out" is a very easy to use secure "wipe/ deletion" software
application that is vital to anyone that
shares a computer and is concerned about secure deletion of files or folder
contents.
A familiar "Windows Explorer" interface.
Details of this software...
Full Windows Explorer type interface/ application. Offers full drag and
drop, delete, copy, cut, paste,
select all, find, and file property functions.
Contains NO adware, spyware or any known intrusive code. See our software -
policies <<< here.
Securely delete file(s) functions...
To securely delete selected files...
Select a file or series of files, folder or series of folders from either
the right or left view pane, then press
the right mouse button.. this will give you the option to "Securely delete
selected file(s)". You also have
this option via the "File" menu item.
Secure delete function...
As you probably know, when you delete a file it is not really deleted (as
Ollie North found out after the
fact), with special software the file can be retrieved from the system's
hard drive or floppy. If you have
sensitive documents that you don't want to take the chance of being
recovered then this program is for
you. This software opens the selected file, over-writes it several times,
then kills the file from the
system. But be aware.. once you select a file(s) to delete, using this
software, it is gone!
Min. system requirements...
PC with Windows© 95, 98, 98 SE, ME, 2000, NT or XP
32 Mb RAM (64Mb is recommended)

Brain candy trivia
http://www.corsinet.com/trivia/
Looking for a little brain candy, something to take your mind off that big
project you've been working on?
Then try Brain Candy, a website that is chocked full of trivia, useless
facts and, well, brain candy.
Didya know:
The average American eats 28 pigs in his or her lifetime?
The average American eats 20.7 pounds of candy a year?
That's really brain candy.

Custom Tips In Opera 6
The Opera 6 tip of the day file is stored as a standard text file in the
Opera Help folder. This means that you can easily generate
your own tip file. First, run Windows Explorer and go to C:\Program
Files\Opera\Help. Right-click the tipday.txt file and choose Rename. Rename
the file to oldtip.xxx (or whatever you like).
Run Notepad now and type in your new tips with one tip per line.
When done, choose File|Save As and save the file in the Help folder as
tipday.txt. If you've turned off your tip of the day feature, you can choose
Help|Tip of the day to turn it back on.

Allows you to easily add hosts to your hosts file. Simply type the hostname
you wish to add and click"Add To Hosts" After your next reboot, the host
that you added will resolve

Includes Clipboard Functionality. If you have copied an address to your
clipboard, hit the "Clipboard" button
to automatically add it to theaddress box, then click "Add to Hosts" and you
are done after two simple

NOTE: In the past, we have created install files so that all required files
are installed along with theapplication. Some people complained of the
larger download for a smaller
application. Therefore fromnow on we are just zipping the application
itself for download. Because of
that you may be missingsome required files to run our applications. The
only file this application
should require is msvbvm60.dll.It is a common file that is installed with
many other applications so
chances are, you already have it, ifnot it is available for download here:
msvbvm60.dll Just download it and
place it in your windowsdirectory if you need it.

Mike's Friday Tip ~ Saving Information Windows
When working on my computer I often need to change the settings for my
internet connection, modem or other devices.
Many times a window will open with numerous settings.
What I do when confronted with the screens like that is press the'Print
Screen' key.
Or 'ALT' and the 'Print Screen' keys to copy just the current window.
I then paste it into Word or Paint, or any other graphics program and save
it to disk for future use, and print it out.
I do that with each of my Email accounts, and have them all saved in a
binder along with printout of all the modem setting and configuration info
that my ISP provided me with.
Once I have the information printed out I write in my logon details and
password onto the relevant printout.
I use the print Screen any time I'm about to change any details on the
computer, that way I have something to read if I do it wrong.

Antivirus software is a good choice to scan your system for possible viruses,
however no virus scanner is 100% effective as manufactures cannot keep up with
the rapid change of viruses that happens daily.
Be sure to update yours regularly.
