Rose City Software Calypso Update ~ Courier Email 3.5

This is the first Rose City Software Calypso Update.

There are several items of interest to cover in this update.

First, many of you are aware that while we have licensed the rights to
further develop the Calypso source code, MCS continues to market other
technology under the Calypso name. For this reason it was agreed that the
new versions released by Rose City would be marketed under a new name. I'd
like to thank everybody who submitted suggestions for the new name, there
were quite a few excellent ideas.

After narrowing the field down to three finalists, we have settled on the
new name for Rose City's new email client. And we are now pleased to
announce the name we have chosen for the new program is: Courier Email.

With that out of the way, we are excited to tell you all about the upcoming
release of Courier Email 3.5!

Please check out our new Rose City Software Courier page at:

http://www.rosecitysoftware.com/Courier/

where we have details about the new features, interface enhancements, and
product pricing. We are also pleased that no existing Calypso features were
removed, including the ability to share address books with the outstanding
Time & Chaos PIM from Isbister.

In addition to the new features, and number of existing bugs were
eliminated:

*Clicking on mailto: link in browser under Windows XP caused program to
crash.

*Drag and Drop attachment to message body doubled under Windows 2000/XP.

*Editing message and then trying to delete the HTML attachment caused crash.

*Last paragraph in message not always preceded by ">" character in replies.

*Deleting attachment from received mail was not marking message as changed
so Ctrl+S wouldn't save the message as not including the attachment.

*Bug in adding addresses to bulk files where addition of an entry with
extended characters would prevent any further additions to the file.

*Filtering a locked message to the Wastebasket would unlock the message,
allowing it to be deleted.

As the web page indicates, the regular price of Courier will be $29.95, with
registered Calypso users eligible for an upgrade price of $17.95. For a
limited time we will offer Calypso freeware users a special price of $24.95.
Everyone who purchases Version 3.5 will receive a free upgrade to 4.0 when
it becomes available later this year.

We will be handing the program off to our initial beta team within a few
days, and then to a larger beta group before a final program release in
early February.

All of us at Rose City would like to thank the many dedicated Calypso users
for their continued interest in the program. Having run various early
builds of this next release, I can honestly say that Courier 3.5 is the best
email program I have ever used. We hope that you will agree.

the many of us whose daily lives are
defined by who we are not." (From the website)

Can you imagine if your name was Stephen King? Like...the same

TinyResMeter
http://194.6.133.21/pesoft/
Freeware

Resource Meter
TinyResMeter is an itsy-bitsy system monitor. Unlike many other
monitors, it doesn't consume a lot of CPU
utilization in order to tell you your CPU utilization. In
addition to CPU usage, you can optionally monitor cache, RAM,
page file and swap file usage, running processes and threads,
disk space utilization and a number of other parameters as well.
Also built-in is a screen grabber that saves the current screen
to disk when you press PrintScreen.

Copy and Paste

First off, you'll be glad to learn copying and pasting is easy.
You can copy and paste just about anything your little heart
desires: text, web pages, files, pictures, you name it. The idea
behind the process is to take information from one place and
deposit it into another.

For an example, let's pretend you're working in a word processor
and need to copy and paste a section
of your document into an e-mail. Here's how:

1. First, you'll need to select the text you wish to copy. You do
this by putting your mouse cursor at the
first character you want to copy and, holding down the left mouse
button, drag the cursor to the last
character you need copied. As you drag, you'll notice everything
gets highlighted (selected).

2. Next, right-click the selected area. Choose Copy from the menu
that pops up (or you can use CTRL-C if you like keyboard
shortcuts).

3. Finally, right-click the area in your e-mail document where
you would like to insert the word processor
text. Click Paste from the menu that pops up (For this, CTRL-V is
your keyboard shortcut).

That's it. The steps are basically the same for any copy & paste
procedure you need to do.

If you want to get a little more fancy, place your cursor at the
first character you want selected and, while holding down the
SHIFT key, click next to the last character you want selected.
It's sometimes easier to follow this procedure than to make
selections by dragging, especially when your wrestling with a
lengthy document. I can't remember the number of times the area I
wanted to stop selecting at zipped right by me on a document!

Another fun way to use the SHIFT key is adding to an existing
selection. Let's say you select an area of text and you came up
short of what you really needed. Rather than trying to re-select
the whole thing, just hit the SHIFT key and click your mouse
where you would like the selection to end. (You can also shorten
a selection by doing this too.)

After you have used the SHIFT key to get your text selected,
follow the pervious steps to copy / paste.

however no virus scanner is 100% effective as manufactures cannot keep up with
