OWASP Top Ten
http://www.owasp.org/
The Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) is dedicated to helping
organizations understand and improve the security of their web applications
and web services. This list was created to focus government and industry on
the most serious of these vulnerabilities. Web application security
vulnerabilities are highly exploitable and the consequence of an attack can
be devastating. These vulnerabilities represent an equivalent magnitude of
risk as network security problems, and should be given the same degree of
attention.

Using this list, organizations can send a message to web site developers
that "we want you to make sure that you won't make these mistakes." The
security issues raised here are not new. In fact, some have been well
understood for decades. Yet for some reason, major software development
projects are still making these mistakes and jeopardizing not only their
customers? security, but also the security of the entire Internet.

Assmaker 3.1
<http://assmaker.mybravenet.com>
FREE - The most used anti-spam scripting tool!
ASS Maker writes for you a Java Script that you can Copy and Paste into your
Home Page in the place of the 'mailto:' tags. ASS Maker disguises the
'mailto:' tags and your address in several parameters of a Java Script
E-mail link. When a visitor of your Home Page clicks that link, the script
launches the visitor default E-mail program with your original address in
the 'To:' field, but the spammers bots and spiders can't see it! This will
prevent the spammers from harvesting your email address since your email
address will not be in a text form but in a jpg or graphic format.

Supervirus?
The question was asked;
Does anyone in this group believe a supervirus will be developed
rendering the internet dead? I'm talking about infection to the
internet backbone servers.

Reply by By 'Tom Hunt'
It already exists. It's the blank space in the minds of many
computer users online that have not a clue regarding security
and virii. It existed, and still does exist, in the minds of the
administrators that failed to patch servers against Code Red,
even after there were repeated warnings. And it exists in the
minds of every casual user who can't be bothered to keep AV
files up-to-date and who unknowingly participate in DDoS
attacks. None of those 450+ Windows users had any idea
they were part of the attack that took www.grc.com down.
And it exists in the minds of every software maker, like MS,
whose out of the box settings leave everything from servers
to home computers wide open to anyone who wants to
enter or exploit them.

As for a single virus that would bring down the backbone
servers, I believe it has already been demonstrated how to
bring down those servers fairly easily.

Deleting Unwanted Programs

It seems like I get questions all the time asking how to remove /
uninstall programs. So, here's the step
by step procedure:

1. The first thing to do is click the Start menu, Programs. Then
hunt for the program you want to delete.
Oftentimes, you'll find an Uninstall program under it's program
group.

2. Another way would be to click the Start button, Settings,
Control Panel. Then open the Add/Remove
programs icon. You'll see a list of programs that Windows can
remove from your system. Just click the
one you would like to remove and hit the OK button.

3. If neither of the above work, you can always go to the
program's folder and delete it. However, there is
no guarantee that the program was confined to that folder. It
could have other files distributed throughout
your computer.

4. Finally, you might consider a program like Clean Sweep (or any
other Third Party uninstall utility). Once installed, it watches
which program files go where and can remove unneeded files for
you.

Keep in mind that some of the files that get placed on your hard
drive when you install a program are
basically updates to some of your existing files. So if you are
uninstalling something and get a message
saying not all the files from a program could be removed, it may
be due to the fact that other programs
6also use these files.

Antivirus software is a good choice to scan your system for possible viruses,
however no virus scanner is 100% effective as manufactures cannot keep up with
the rapid change of viruses that happens daily.
Be sure to update yours regularly.
