open the drop down box(es) select "location" Check the box labeled
"Use alternate locations from the list" select next and next to update.

Children's Books Online: the Rosetta Project
the largest collection of illustrated antique children's books on line...we
think.

<http://www.childrensbooksonline.org/index.htm>

Download Entire Books for Free

We very are pleased to announce that we have added a new feature to the
site. Now, instead of having to download books one page at a time, our
guests can download entire copies of each book with one mouse click. Guests
can elect to download entire books as compressed ZIP FILES, so that it is
easier for children, parents, and teachers to read the books off-line.

Visit our library page <http://www.childrensbooksonline.org/library.htm> to
begin collecting all of these beautifully illustrated children's books.
Currently, a complete set of Rosetta's e-book collection takes up about 225
megabytes of hard drive space.

The Rosetta Project's collections currently contain about 2,000 antique
children's books which were published in the 19th and early 20th century. We
shall be putting these combined collections on line as funding permits. Our
current goal of putting 2,000 volumes on line will create an online library
of approximately 65,000 html pages. However, as we are still collecting
books from around the world, we expect the Rosetta Project online library to
eventually reach millions of html pages.

Feel free to download our images and enjoy them for your personal use.

Upgrading Older Versions of Windows

With the ongoing changes to Microsoft products and the phasing out of the
older Windows programs, it is becoming more difficult to find the updates
for the earlier versions.

At the suggestion of one of my long time subscribers, I found a couple of
good sites.

Here is an alternative site for updates and how to;
http://tweakhomepc.virtualave.net/update/updates_intro.html

One of the sites recommended on it is for Win 95;
http://www.walbeehm.com/win95upd.html

< indicates Hyper links on the page>
"For those who want to quickly update their system with all the available
system updates, I have made convenient lists that do not contain
redundancies. Lists are available for <Windows 95 -- original version> and
for <Windows 95 OEM Service Release 2 (OSR2)>.

Further down on this page, there are links to Microsoft Knowledge Base
articles that explain exactly
<which problems are fixed by each of these updates>.

From Microsoft's Knowledge Base: <Implementing Windows 95 Updates>.
This article gives additional information on Windows 95 versions and updates
in general.

For those interested in the exact contents of all the updates, please visit
my <Contents of Windows 95 Updates> page.

Here is a page that automates installing Windows 95 updates: <Win95 Update
Installation Script>.
In addition, there are some links to non-system updates on this page. "
For Win 98 go to;
http://www.walbeehm.com/win98upd.html

Thanks to; Handle with Care for suggesting the topic.

Qfecheck/Qfechkup is kinda geeky, but useful:
It "enumerates all of the installed fixes by Microsoft Knowledge Base
article number. Customers can then confirm that they have installed the
appropriate set of fixes before using a valuable support incident and
potentially experiencing unplanned down time..."

In other words, it shows you what major "hotfix" patches are already on your
system, and can help you avoid the kind of head-scratching that can happen
when you see a patch or update but don't know if you've already installed it
or not: Just run Qfecheck/Qfecheck, and you'll know, for sure.

Windows 2000 and Windows XP (Qfechkup):
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;en-us;q282784

Windows 95 (Qfecheck; the same basic tool also is found in Win98/ME
installations)
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;en-us;q145990

Win98 (scroll down midway through this page for info and link):
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;en-us;q206071

WinME (scroll down midway through this page for info and link):
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;295413

Qfecheck/Qfecheck is good for verifying that you have the major stuff
installed, but won't help with minor patches and updates. For those, use
WindowsUpdate itself, or the non-Microsoft update services discussed here:

Express messages every time your system crashes or you re-install Windows?
Just use e-Backup to create a compressed backup copy of your Outlook Express
data and store it in a safe place.
After the crash or format, simply restore the backup and your Outlook

Antivirus software is a good choice to scan your system for possible viruses,
however no virus scanner is 100% effective as manufactures cannot keep up with
the rapid change of viruses that happens daily.
