Turn System Restore On and Off
From; http://www.winxpnews.com/?id=49
Several of you have written in about problems with System Restore. I hear
that you either have no system restore points, or you don't have one
available that lets you go back a week or two. One reason for this is that
you either don't have System Restore enabled for your drives or you aren't
dedicating enough space for your system restore points. Here's how you get
control over System Restore:

Click Start and then click Control Panel.
Switch to Classic View if you're not already there, then open the System
applet.
On the System Properties dialog box, click on the System Restore tab.
On the System Restore tab, make sure Turn off System Restore on all drives
checkbox is unchecked. If it is checked, then you won't be able to use
System Restore to get back to where you were when things worked!
If you want to max out your options, click on a drive letter and click
Settings.
On the Drive Settings dialog box, move the slider bar to the far right
towards the max setting. If you need to reclaim some disk space because
you're running out of disk space, move the slider bar to the left. Note that
if you do this, you reduce the number of restore points you can go back to.
Click OK and then click OK again.
If the System Restore was off, restart the computer and now your computer
will start recording restore points again.

"Goodbye" in over 400 languages, How to say "good-bye" in
languages from Abenaki to Zulu.

http://www.elite.net/~runner/jennifers/goodbye.htm

In addition to ways to say "goodbye" in many languages on this
page, I also have several other lists of translations in many
languages: hello, good morning, good afternoon, good evening and
good night, how are you?, welcome, please, thank you, what is
your name?, my name is..., do you speak English?, yes, no, and I
don't understand. If you want more information about a particular
language, see my page of Internet Language Resources. My goal
is to include every language of the world on these pages. There
are still several thousand languages out there that I don't have
yet, so all additions and corrections will be very welcome!

FlexWizard v1.2 [559k] W9x/2k/XP FREE

http://www.mywebattack.com/gnomeapp.php?id=105481

FlexWizard introduces a new concept that makes updating your Web site as
easy as sending an e-mail. The software is bundled with a service that hosts
your FlexWindow content and manages all your changes via e-mail. You can
have your actual Web site hosted wherever you want, so there is no need to
change your hosting company. The program/service works by inserting your
FlexWindow content into your existing pages via a Java script code from the
FlexWindow server. Simply define content areas (FlexWindows) on your site,
then send an e-mail with the content you want to appear in each particular
FlexWindow. The e-mail content is published on your Web page immediately. It
makes a perfect solution to update fast changing content on your Web site,
like the latest news flashes, Web logs, vacancies, and price and product
information etc. The FlexWizard is an easy-to-use interface that assists you
in setting up the system. You can use the service and software for free on
personal pages with up to 2 FlexWindows. Commercial sites and users who
require more FlexWindows need to register for a yearly package. FlexWizard
is a great idea that allows non- technical users to perform on-the-fly
changes to an existing Web site without the need to hire a Webmaster to do
the updates or changes.

GuildFTPd
http://www.guildftpd.com/
Freeware

If you need an FTP server with lots of options, this may be the
answer. It is by far a treat when it comes to options and ease
of setup. Also supports different languages.

Some of the key features include:

The ability to set your logins to one port
Instant log statistics
Connection graphs showing past connections
The ability to limit connection speeds -- If you are looking to
save bandwidth, this is an awesome feature.
AutoBan for hammering.
File resuming for uploaders.

Upgrading Hardware

Though we don't upgrade internal hardware all that often,
it's a necessary evil for some of us. Upgrading your video
card, modem, etc.? First, be sure to remove its reference
in your Device Manager (found in the properties dialog of My
Computer). This way, Windows won't try to find it when it
boots up again. That was a somewhat straightforward task.

But what happens when you need to install a new motherboard
without wanting to reinstall Windows? Don't pick and choose
what needs to go; delete everything sitting in the Device
Manager. Before you do this, of course, you'll want to back up
your system registry (just in case the upgrade is a complete
failure).

Once you've disconnected and reconnected all your
devices to the new system board, when Windows boots up,
it'll redetect your hardware and should configure itself
accordingly. It is best to reinstall each device one at a time
to prevent possible conflicts. It is always easier to
troubleshoot
one piece of hardware then to try to determine what is causing
the hardware problem.

Skipping the 'Device Manager deletion' step is inviting disaster.

Antivirus software is a good choice to scan your system for possible viruses,
however no virus scanner is 100% effective as manufactures cannot keep up with
the rapid change of viruses that happens daily.
Be sure to update yours regularly.
