 React! 0.9 ~ Free
http://www.wallopware.com/
Test the speed of your reactions!
 Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP

This software will test how fast you can react to audio and visual stimuli
and calculate how quickly you can make, and act on, a simple choice or quick
decision.
It comprises four tests. In the audio and visual test you are simply asked
to click the spacebar each time you hear a sound or see a message on the
screen.

In the decision tests you must click keys on the left or right of the
keyboard depending on whether a blue or yellow box appears, or a high or low
note is played.

You get 10 attempts, and a saveable report is produced for each test so that
you can track your progress or view your average reaction times.

Letter Sounds
http://www.yourchildlearns.com/lettersounds.htm
Beginning letter sounds - Free Software for learning beginning phonics.

Letter Sounds helps children make the first, vital connection between the
letters of the alphabet and the sounds they represent. Children drag
pictures to the letters that make the first sounds of the word that
describes the picture. Voice is used to be sure that children know the right
word and to reinforce the connection between the first letter and the first
sound in the word. Fun, educational hands-on learning.
Letter Sounds requires Windows 3.1, 95 or 98, a sound card and speakers

"The etymology and history of first names"

Curious about the origins of your first name? In need of a name
for a new addition to the family? Wondering what the most popular
names for children are? All these questions are answered at
"Behind the Name", one of the best websites dealing with the
topic.

Clear Your Desktop
Everyone in your family will freak out they find you've removed
all the icons from your Windows 95, 98 or Me desktop. But they'll
settle down when they realize you haven't actually deleted them.

Double-click My Computer and select Folder Options from the View
menu. Click on the View tab and select the button "Hide icons
when desktop is viewed as a Web page". Click OK.

Right-click a blank portion of your taskbar at the bottom of your
desktop and select Desktop from the Toolbars menu. You will then
see a toolbar for your desktop on the taskbar. Drag this to an
edge of the screen where it will lock in place. Now right-click
on a blank portion of your desktop and select Properties. Under
the Web tab, select "View my Active Desktop as a web page". Click
Apply and OK and your desktop should be as clean as your mother's
kitchen floor.

The icons will be accessible on the toolbar at the side of the
screen.

Antivirus software is a good choice to scan your system for possible viruses,
however no virus scanner is 100% effective as manufactures cannot keep up with
the rapid change of viruses that happens daily.
Be sure to update yours regularly.
