RegScrubXP ~ free
http://home.carolina.rr.com/lexunfreeware/RegScrubXP/RegScrubXP.htm
Safely cleans junk out of the Windows2000/XP System Registry, making it
smaller and faster to access.

All changes made to the Registry are fully restorable to it's original
condition.
You can make an exclusion list of Registry entries that RegScrubXP will not
display as problems.
You can sift through a list of File Extensions, Company Names,
"Run Upon Startup" programs, Internet Explorer History, and Uninstall
programs to delete what you think is junk.
Tweak the Registry with the easy to use Tweaker!
Additional help file with dozens of XP tweaks!

RegScrubXP is a very popular utility designed to delete unnecessary
information from the System Registry of XP operating systems. This "junk"
is often left behind when programs are uninstalled, and the information is
not needed anymore. Programmers mistakenly load the Registry with junk as
well. The result of cleaning out the junk is a smaller, faster Registry.
Your operating system accesses the Registry a lot, so keeping it clean is a
good idea! RegScrubXP also helps you tweak your Registry to provide a more
pleasant computer experience.

http://www.evrsoft.com/1stpage/
"Evrsoft 1st Page 2000 helps you write, edit and improve your HTML, its
powerful tools let you author websites faster, easier and better! Most new
builders don't realize the time they're losing by relying on traditional
based text editors like WindowsTM Notepad to author their sites.
Whether you're a beginner or an HTML guru you'll find 1st Page 2000 great to
use!"
++
Recomended by Ross
"1st PAGE is a fascinating program with all it's buttons, bells and
whistles. If you want a FREE HTML editor it's great. You will have to spend
some time getting the hang of it but I think it will be worth it. If you
have been writing HTML by hand it's easier. "

Security Tips
Todays tip submitted by reader Hndlwcare a long time friend and
security advisor on IRC antivirus/antirojan help channels.
~~~~
We have long heard that if you haven't opened that infected
email, or downloaded that infected file, or run that infected
file, you can't be infected.  This is no longer the case and
should no longer be relied upon.
There are many ways you can become infected without doing
anything, and they all boil down to one thing -- you didn't do
the one thing that would have protected you, i.e., patched your
Windows (at least once a
month, press your Start button and then select Windows Update and
install all "Critical Updates), and set your web browser and
email client to reject some of the newer viruses and trojans that
no longer require you to know about them.
With Netscape, it's pretty easy.  Just disable all Java and
ActiveX and be very suspicious of anybody and any website that
tells you to enable them.  Enable them only when absolutely
required and only for the most trusted of websites.  You will
find these settings in File/Advanced.
With Microsoft Internet Explorer and Outlook Express, it is
almost as easy.  Just set your security to the highest level and
leave it there.  Lower it to moderate security only when
absolutely required and only for
the most trusted of websites.  You will find these settings in
Favorites/Security.
When you see something that looks like it's for nothing or
strangers tell you is "cool," be very cautious, as many people
who have installed Kazaa are learning much too late.
None of the above is a substitute for a properly enabled,
continually updated, and good virus scanner, trojan scanner, and
firewall.  None of these can offer 100% security, so it's wise to
add an extra level of
protection.
Control IE's Cache ~ by Mike Baynes
Cache is the amount of stored information, pages and data from web sites,
that IE keeps in its stored folders on your computer.
Having a large Cache can slowdown your internet access.
You can control the amount saved, which on a large hard drive can be a
considerable amount as it is a percentage of the hard drives capacity.
In IE, go to; Tools> Internet Options> General.
Click on the Settings button.
Click on 'Temporary Internet files folder', on my 20 gig hard drive I set it
to 5MB.
Click OK>>OK.
In the same window of IE6, you can also move the folder were the 'Temporary
Internet files folder' is located.
I have my 20gig hard drive 'partitioned', [ divided into ], smaller sections
of 5gig for C and D drives.
I have my 'Temporary Internet files folder' moved to my D drive, to reduce
size of my C drive to enable faster scanning for virus or using system
utilities like Scandisk and Defrag.
Antivirus software is a good choice to scan your system for possible viruses,
however no virus scanner is 100% effective as manufactures cannot keep up with
the rapid change of viruses that happens daily.
Be sure to update yours regularly.
