Windows XP Service Pack 1
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/servicepacks/sp1/default.asp
Microsoft continually works to improve its software. As part of
this effort, we develop updates and fixes to recognized issues
and release them for customers. On a regular basis, we combine
many of these fixes into a single package and make the package
available for you to install on your computers.
These packages are called Service Packs.
Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP1) provides the latest security and
reliability updates to the Windows XP family of operating systems.
Windows XP SP1 is designed to ensure Windows XP platform
compatibility with newly released software and hardware, and
includes updates that resolve issues discovered by customers or
by Microsoft's internal testing team.
To determine whether to install Windows XP SP1, we recommend
reviewing the Windows XP documentation and information below.
++
Or order the CD from Microsoft;
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/servicepacks/sp1/ordercd.asp
Don't forget to run a defrag when you have finished the download
~~
EXTRA
I tried downloading it from the regular site and was getting only 5kbps
on a cable connection...so Vic went looking for a faster connection and
found this ftp link which gave it to me at over 1000kbps....REALLY
fast....so, those who haven't downloaded it yet might want to try this

Tina's FrontPage Tips, by Tina Clarke
Help! do you really need it?
Before asking your FrontPage question in a list, group, club,
or Forum etc. Think about using the Help menu. It's at the
right end of all the menus, and from it you can search through
an index of all the on-disk help you can also press F1 to access
it. Don't forget the `Help button', which looks like a question
mark with a pointer Also available under Help and you can stick
it in with your menu icons using `Customise | Commands' and
dragging it over. Click on this and your cursor changes to a hand
holding a small explanation text. Then you can move that hand
around the screen and place it above any part of the FrontPage
display. Click and you'll see a relevant help window open,
explaining the thing beneath your question mark. Keyboard
shortcut is Shift + F1.
You might like to know about the FrontPage Online Help files,
which are duplicated on the Microsoft web.

Nick.com's Back to School
http://www.nick.com/your_world/back_to_school/
If the new school year hasn't started yet where you live, it will
any minute now (here they went back just last week!).
This site, part of Nick.com, is a good place for kids to ease out
of summer silliness and into school seriousness. There's the stuff
kids can actually use for homework and organization--all online--like
a calculator, calendar, dictionary, thesaurus, and Web search
engine.
And then there's the stuff they'll use just for fun: message boards,
games, interactive animation funnies, and other general fun stuff.

Control From the Start
This is a neat little trick that I have enabled (and have for quite some
time!).
In the Windows Start Menu folder, create a folder called (are you ready ?)
Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}
When you are done, the name will change to 'Control Panel'
without the extension.
Now, when you open the startmenu, select 'Control Panel' and it
will bring up all the items in your control panel.
Just in case you're wondering, all the numbers and letters refer
to a class ID within the registry.

RegEditX 1.31 ~ free
http://www.dcsoft.com/products/regeditx/regeditx.htm
RegEditX (Registry Editor Extensions) is freeware that enhances
the Windows Registry Editor.
Windows 95 / 98 / ME / NT4 / 2K / XP.
If you edit the same keys repeatedly, this is for you! New buttons
activate frequently used commands, and a combo box stores a
history of visited keys and allows quick navigation back to them.
The keys are saved across sessions and available the next time
you use the Registry Editor.

Copying exe files
Have you ever tried to copy an exe application to save it?
Find the file you wish to copy on your hard drive,
I like to use the 'Windows Explorer'
To open Windows Explorer, click Start, point to Programs, point
to Accessories, and then click Windows Explorer.
(I right clicked on the 'Windows Explorer' and chose
'Create Shortcut' and dragged it onto my desktop for easy access.)
Open the location you wish to copy it to;
a floppy disk, zip drive or other drive, CDRW ect.
Right click on the .exe and hold down the shift key while you drag it.
That will move the .exe to the new location rather than create a shortcut.

Antivirus software is a good choice to scan your system for possible viruses,
however no virus scanner is 100% effective as manufactures cannot keep up with
the rapid change of viruses that happens daily.
Be sure to update yours regularly.
