Michael's Minute: Lindows.com Report Card
LindowsOS computer from Walmart.com for as little as $299
Lindows.com Report Card
Goto <http://lindows.com/mm> to launch it in your browser
To view the Timeline of Lindows.com's first 9 months in business,
go to <http://lindows.com/timeline>
Operating System:
As of last week, consumers can experience LindowsOS in one of two ways.
One way is to buy a computer running LindowsOS from Walmart.com
<http://www.lindows.com/walmart> , for as little as $299.
This is a significant milestone for us, as we've partnered with our
first builder (Microtel) and retailer (Walmart).
These computers work great out of the box and are ideal for general
purpose computing tasks.
For those who already have a computer and also wish to try LindowsOS,
we offer the Insider program <http://www.lindows.com/signup> .
This gives people wanting early access to LindowsOS a chance to try
out LindowsOS as it develops.
Currently, Insiders report installation success about 80% of the
time on their PCs. Therefore we have some room to grow, consequently,
this product is not yet for everyone.
Some may wonder how we can sell a computer at Walmart
<http://www.lindows.com/walmart> when the program available directly
from Lindows.com is billed as not completely ready. The difference is
the Walmart <http://www.lindows.com/walmart> computers are certified,
ensuring that all components work elegantly with LindowsOS. That's
much different than offering a software program that will work on any
computer in the world - that's very difficult. It's the difference
between making a single pair of shoes for a known foot size versus
opening a shoe store with every style of shoe for every size foot.
The first one is easy, the second one is a much bigger job.
While the installer is fantastically easy and fast (the entire OS
installs in under 5 minutes), we've got a lot more work to do to
support a wider range of hardware, printers and other devices.

Startup Delayer 2.0.54 free
Compatible with Windows 9x/ME/NT/2000/XP
Can you learn another language in the time it takes for your
machine to boot?
Do you turn on your PC when you go to bed, so it's finished
booting by the time you get home from work the next day?
When Windows loads it's Startup file, it attempts to load every program
in there at the same time. Therefore if you have quite a lot of programs
starting when Windows starts, each program will try and grab CPU time so
that it can load.
If each program tries to do this at the same time, you soon notice the
slow down that occurs, due to your CPU trying to help all the programs
to load, and your hard disk accessing multiple files.
Startup Delayer allows you to setup how many seconds after Windows has
started, to load each program.
For Example:
If you have your mail program and a special clock starting up, then
you can make your mail start say 10 seconds after Windows has loaded,
and then the special clock start 20 seconds after Windows Starts.

Tina's FrontPage Tips, by Tina Clarke
Set properties on the HTML tab in Page view
When you're editing a page on the HTML tab in Page view, you
can use Microsoft FrontPage to help you set the properties
of an HTML tag, instead of memorising the valid attributes
and values and typing them yourself.
For example, if you want to add a border to an image, you
can type border="1" in the <img> tag -- but that assumes you
know the valid attributes and values for image tags.
Instead, you can use the Picture Properties dialog box to
set the border, and FrontPage automatically writes the
border settings, in the proper syntax and using valid
values, back into the <img> tag. Unlike previous versions of
FrontPage, you don't need to exit the HTML tab to use dialog
boxes to set properties for a tag.
1. On the HTML tab in Page view, position the insertion
point inside the tag name (not inside an attribute or a
value) of the tag you want to set properties for,
right-click to display the shortcut menu, and then click Tag
Properties.
FrontPage displays the appropriate properties dialog box for
that HTML tag. For example, if you click in a form field
check box tag, FrontPage displays the Check Box Properties
dialog box.
2. Set the properties you want. The dialog box lets you
choose from among the valid attributes and values for that
tag.
When you click OK to close the properties dialog box,
FrontPage immediately rewrites the HTML for that tag.

This image viewer helps when browsing through large collections
of images. Its Explorer-like interface provides fast access to
image files with your mouse or keyboard. About 40 image formats
are supported. Explorer context menus provide the necessary file
management functions like copy, move and delete. Also, Explorer
shell extensions are supported from within this tool. Thumbnails
of images in the current directory are created automatically by
threads. Full scalable print support -- including print preview
for images and thumbnails -- is also included. Images can be
mirrored, rotated and saved. A built-in sound interface lets you
play MP3, Midi or WAV files while viewing. It can be used to assign
spoken commentaries or sound impressions to specific folders.

Run Command
When you're opening programs like regedit, the best way is to
use the Run command.
Normally, we point you in that direction by telling you to
go to Start, Run.
But there is a keyboard shortcut.
Just press Windows Key-R to open the Run command.

Antivirus software is a good choice to scan your system for possible
viruses, however no virus scanner is 100% effective as manufactures
cannot keep up with the rapid change of viruses that happens daily.
