Worm Targets Outlook, AIM Users
http://www.pcmag.com/article/0,2997,s=1490&a=25322,00.asp
Security software maker Symantec is warning of a new worm;
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/dyn/21655.html

that uses the blended-threat technique found in other
recent worms. The worm comes in two forms, W32.Aphex@mm
and W32.Aplore@mm. Its primary function is to mass-mail
itself via a Microsoft Outlook address book, but it also
uses IRC and AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) to propagate.

Computer Profiler v1.8
http://www.karenware.com/powertools/ptprofiler.asp
Computer Profiler v1.8 now displays more file system info than
ever,
including the maximum file name length, and the a drive's cluster
size
(the smallest amount of disk space that can be allocated to a
file).
The program also sports some small improvements that make a big
difference to users with visual impairments, and others who rely
on
keyboard navigation.

NetBrute Scanner 1.0.0.9
http://www.rawlogic.com/netbrute/
Windows 9x, NT, Me, XP and 2000.
NetBrute Scanner is a suite of three valuable network tools and is

absolutely free to download.
NetBrute allows you to scan a single computer or multiple IP
addresses
for available Windows File & Print Sharing resources. This is
probably
one of the most dangerous and easily exploitable security holes.
It is
common for your novice users to have their printers or their
entire hard
drive shared without being aware of it. This utility will help you
to find
these resources, so you can secure them with a firewall or by
informing
your users how to properly configure their shares with tighter
security.

Secret Desktop
Remember our tip for displaying a folder of all your desktop
files and folders? Click on Start and Run, enter a period and
click OK?

If you do this a lot, we can make it easier for you by setting up
a button on the taskbar that you can click when you want to see
the desktop folder. Here's how to set this up:

1. Right-click Start and select Open from the context menu. This
should open the Start Menu folder.

2. In the Start Menu folder, double-click Programs to open that
folder, and then StartUp.

3. In the StartUp folder, right-click on a blank area and select
New and Shortcut from the menus.

4. In the space for the Command Line, type
c:\windows\explorer.exe c:\windows\desktop - there's a space only
before the second c: and those are backward slashes. Click Next.
(This command assumes Windows is stored in the directory named
Windows. If not, substitute the name of your Windows folder for
windows in both instances.)

5. Name the file something profound like Desktop and click
Finish.

6. Back in the StartUp window, right-click the new Desktop icon
and select Properties.

7. Under the Shortcut tab, in the Run field select Minimized and
click Close.

The next time you start Windows, the Desktop icon will be on the
taskbar. Click it at any time and you'll get immediate access to
all your desktop items in a separate folder.

Antivirus software is a good choice to scan your system for
possible
viruses, however no virus scanner is 100% effective as
manufactures
cannot keep up with the rapid change of viruses that happens
daily.
Be sure to update yours regularly.
