Kaspersky labs has additional servers for autoupdating. The program
defaults to use one server but can be altered to check a variety of
servers. Select Kaspersky updater, select update via the internet to
open the drop down box(es) select "location" Check the box labeled
"Use alternate locations from the list" select next and next to update.

Special Characters
Have you ever been working on a document and had to insert a
special character that's not found on your keyboard? You know,
stuff like a degree symbol, a small square (checkbox), or
copyright symbol (a
small list, but it gives you the idea).

Here's How:

Click the Start Button, Programs, Accessories, (System Tools) -
Select Character Map.

You'll be presented with a screen that has lots of different
symbols. When you click (and hold) a symbol, it gives you an
enlarged preview of it.

To actually select the symbol:

1. Click the symbol you want
2. Click the Select button, then the Copy button.

This will copy your symbol onto the clipboard where you can then
paste it into any word processor.

Some word processors give you direct access to the character map.
In Word for example, click the Insert menu and select Symbol...
You will be given a "customized" screen that can automatically
insert a
symbol into your current document.

Finally, if you find yourself using a particular symbol all the
time, check out the lower right hand corner of the Character Map
window (on the status bar) it gives you a keystroke combo you can
use to generate the current character.

Here are some good guidelines for downloading programs with IE
From Windows IE6 help files.

Downloading files
Some files contain viruses or can otherwise harm your computer.

If you run a program or open a file directly from a Web site and it causes=
your computer or other programs to shut down, you could lose unsaved work=
in any open files on your computer.

If you save this file or program to disk, you can run it later. This allows=
you to take precautions, such as the following, before you open the file=
 or run the program:

Check the file with a virus scanner.
Save your work and close other programs.
Disconnect from the Internet or any other network connections.
For the most security, make sure the Always ask before opening
this type of file check box is selected.
If you feel confident that this type of file or program is always safe
to open or run directly from the Internet, make sure this check box
is cleared.

 Note

The Always ask before opening this type of file check box is not
available for some file types, such as files with the extensions .exe
or .com, which run programs or commands.
When this check box is not available, you will always be asked
before opening this type of file.

________________________________________________________

Antivirus software is a good choice to scan your system for possible

viruses,
however no virus scanner is 100% effective as manufactures cannot
keep up with the rapid change of viruses that happens daily.
Be sure to update yours regularly.
