Survey on new areas of research and teaching
Greetings and best wishes for the new year.
I am writing to you today with a request, and would appreciate receiving
your responses at your earliest convenience.
If you have thoughts on areas/courses of research and teaching which should
be promoted in the north-east either by starting afresh or strengthening
existing facilities/opportunities, could I request you to fill up this

This is one of the important questions which institutions of research and
higher education continuously face, and your input on this would be
valuable in our deliberations. We plan to discuss these amongst
Directors/Vice Chancellors and policy makers. Clearly one would have to
keep the future development of the region and state in mind, the evolving
national and global situation, and the importance of multidisciplinary
approaches in addressing key problems. Steps taken should also aim at
providing more opportunities to develop new skills and knowledge, improving
employability, and promoting cutting-edge research while making the best
use of available expertise and resources.
