Subject: Shoot For Science - Workshop on using photography to communicate
science
I am writing this email to inform you about the Science photography
workshop that I am organizing in February. The goal of this workshop is to
teach early career Indian scientists some basic visual literacy skills. The
workshop is hosted at NCBS, Bangalore and we are teaching the students by
assigning them active research projects to document (insect flight
biomechanics, fly visual perception, honeybee social behavior, termite
communication). The idea is to get the students to appreciate the power of
photography and to be able to use it to communicate their work later in
their careers ( Please find the poster attached). The workshop will be
taught by National Geographic science photographers, editors, and
explorers. I have kept this totally non-commercial and the workshop will be
fully funded for the selected participants (Travel excluded).
