Post-doctoral Researchers: UPSCAPE
We are looking to fill a post-doctoral scholar position for an
Indo-UK collaborative project funded by the Ministry of Earth
Sciences, India and the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC),
UK called “Upscaling Catchment Processes for Sustainable Water
Management in Peninsular India” (UPSCAPE) (www.atree.org/upscape).
The candidate will assist in undertaking field and desk based research
on coupled human-water system research in the Cauvery Basin. The ideal
candidate should possess:
A PhD in Hydrology, Water Resources or Civil Engineering or related
fields with knowledge of environmental and sustainability issues is
desired but we will also consider outstanding candidates with an
M-Tech/MSc.
Skills and experience in undertaking field research, gathering data
from a variety of sources including comfort with collecting field
samples and managing instruments in the field.
Ability to manage and analyse quantitative data and build models,
including coding skills in using Python. A key requirement of this
position will be the ability to think conceptually about hydrology.
Some competence in Remote Sensing and GIS is preferred.
Competence in English communication, both oral and written.
Salary will be based on DST Post-doctoral Research Associate
fellowship norms. The position will be based primarily in the
Bangalore office with some field travel.
Duration of appointment: at least 1 year (to be confirmed after the
first 3 months) and up to 3 years.
