Third Annual Xtreme Roan Adventures – Youth Naturalist Rally by Friends of Roan Mountain at Roan Mountain State Park, Roan Mountain, TN July 29-30, 2011 Photo by Kris Light There is an exciting lineup of nature activities for youth of all ages. This event will offer a variety of outdoor nature activities - animal tracking, stream ecology, salamander hunt, beginners birding, scavenger hunt, tree identification, orienteering, skulls and skins, fossil casting, live reptiles and amphibians, live birds of prey, Appalachian Trail hike, trail mix making, games and crafts. You will not want to miss the keynote speaker – Kris Light! Kris is a Science Outreach Instructor and Elementary School Science Teacher! She will share her expertise on Insect Ecology!!! Registration deadline is July 23. Please mail registration along with payment of $3 per child, $3 per adult (includes lunch). Children must be accompanied by an adult. Dress for the outdoors. Bring/wear sturdy closed toe shoes, old outdoor clothes, and rain jacket.
