Hello fellow copy editors,

If your morale needs a boost, beg, borrow, or buy a copy of the 
latest (Nov 2006) _Quill & Quire_. Its closing column, "The Last 
Word," written this month by author Lawrence Scanlan and headed"In 
praise of sticklers," is a joyful celebration of the copy editors he 
has worked with.

The most recent was EAC's own Shaun Oakey. Of him, Scanlan says, "I 
wrote in my acknowledgements that he was 'right so often I wanted to 
punch him.' What I really meant is that I wanted to _hug_him --- for 
saving me, again and again and again."

I've worked with Shaun and know he deserves every word of that 
praise. I hope he's framed it.
