I agree. I was telling myself that I'd stay out of this because, while it's a
noble effert, it just isn't a practical or
realistic one. When I got it into my head that I was going to get a Mac and try
to learn it, my state counselor explained
that it wasn't a purchase that he could assist me with because for the most
part, learning the Mac wouldn't make me more
employable. In retrospect, I'm honestly not sure I'd buy the mac if I had it to
do over again, but that's definitely not a
topic for this thread.
I think it's great that Mac has built in accessibility, but most work places I
know of aren't going to allow you to use your
own computers, so like it or not, folks, you're probably still going to have to
deal with windows, at least for the
forseeible future. Someone said that work place computers over all are getting
less accessible, and I'd sadly have to agree
with that. So many companies have really customized software that, at least the
last time I knew, screen readers just can't
touch. In situations like this, owning a Mac and being proficient in the use of
VO aren't going to save you.
Well, I'll send this off now. I'm not fully awake yet, and this could turn into
a completely off topic rant if I'm not
careful, but the long and short of it is that I agree with Ricardo.

Hi,

since we are talking about the workplace, and almost every office in the world
uses windows, isn't this kind of a pointless
argument? I'm not saying MS Office shouldn't be made accessible on the Mac
but, I think improving iWork is even more
important mainly because its the point of least resistance. Before we can even
worry about office being accessible on the
Mac to improve working conditions for the blind, don't we need Macs in the
workplace first?

JMO.
