I look forward to the answer to this as well. A friend just bought a
16 gig pod and it talks just fine. Hmm.

Nope... There's plenty of space. It's a 16 gig and less than 2gig
are taken as of now...

the only thing I can think of is that there isn't enough room on
the IPod for them.

I did try restoring, and my language is set to english. I also
thought about using it as a disk being the problem so I turned it
off. And nothing. iTunes happily leaves 600 audio files in my hard
drive instead of sending them to the iPod. I can't even imagine
why it's doing this...

try restore and make sure your language is set to english. Also,
what voice are you using? I understand that not all windows
voices will go. also, you have to make sure there is enough room
on your nano. Lastly, uncheck the disk use checkbox.

I use a Mac most of the time when I'm at school, but I'm home for
christmas using a Windows pc. I got an iPod nano 4g two days ago
and have been unable to use the spoken menus. I hope they work
just fine with the mac... But in any case here's what happens: I
tell iTunes to generate the menus, and it sure does generate
them, but the audio files containing the voice, which are
supposed to be sent somewhere in my iPod, apear in c:\. There is
like 600 of them, and they do play nicely in Windows, but they
just can't make their way into my iPod. Any suggestions...?
Thanks!
