  it uses a microphone to record your voice and turns it into text on the 
screen through a technology called speech recognition.  it is not terribly 
friendly with voiceover and the microcrophone needs to be attached to a headset 
and they sell combos like that for that and other purposes.

    well, dictation would be using ilisten a program for typing with your voice 
from macspeech.  I don't know about the other stuff.
