[macvoiceover] some newby questions

my name is michael and i have just signed up for this list.
i have got some experience of using both windows and linux.
i am considering purchasing a new computer and have not ruled out the possibility of purchasing a mac even though my experience with the operating systems i have used has been on the pc. if i were to purchase a mac, i have a few questions as a newby to the hardware, operating system and voiceover. my questions are due to the fact my family are not as adaptable as me when it comes to operating systems although my mother at one point talked about having a mac i think. this means there experience is only of windows and my dad said he would not work with anything other than windows. also i don't always have sighted assistance around as i live by myself in a rented flat. the questions i have are is there an easy way to learn voiceover only support safari for web browsing and if so is this browser useable on internet banking sites ie alliance and leicester? 
hope someone can answer my questions.
