[macvoiceover] Re: softcon.com/mac updated again

Actually, there are two muds I play, 3-kingdoms, (3k.org 5000) and lostsouls (lostsouls.org 23) They both have combat, and it does scroll fairly fast (which is why I overdrive vo for the faster combat) but for the most part, I set triggers in muddle to handle anything I need to do during combat that requires responding to output from the mud, and just play it as usual. I tend to select guilds where things like responding to events during combat aren't essential (I.E. on 3k, I'm a changeling, and they need no armor, so I don't have to worry about it breaking or anything. On lostsouls, I have several characters (you can have 20 or so, though I have about 9, only of which 2 or 3 I play with any regularity, and while some of those chars are in mage-type guilds, I tend to stick to spells that have long-lasting effects, so I don't have to renew them during combat. It works well for me, but then again, the first time I logged into a mud was sometime in the 90-92 time frame, so I've had a lot of time to acclimate. :) But, since this is off topic for the list (well, to tie it to the list, I'll say that vo doesn't do a real good job of keeping up with the combat, but I'm working on that) I (eventually) will have muddle to do text replacement. I.E. the mud sends something like
Your bite cracks ogre's bones.

and I can have muddle simply output something like

cracks bones.

That way, combat messages will become considerably shorter, and perhaps then (with the overdrive effect) it can be made to keep up with realtime combat. Vo really isn't built for mudding, but it does work if yo're willing to stick with it a bit until you figure it out.

Hi,

Just wondering what muds you play? Odvisily it's something without combat, as combat would simply be too fast for VO to not read automaticly.
