The predictive text on safari can simply be ignored if you don't like
what it's filling in. Just ignore it, and continue typing. It will
overwrite the existing text (and actually remove it if it doesn't
match what you're typing)
I find it rather useful myself, since often times I can't remember the
whole url of where I'd like to go, and only a few letters gets me the
result I need.
If on the other hand, it fills in what you want (but too much) such
as /category_junk when you wanted to just go to the main page, just
hit space bar, and the rest goes away.
I didn't like it at first either, but I've grown to really like it
these days.
It saves a *lot* of typing.
