[macvoiceover] player that can jump to a specific point in a file with snow leopard

Hi all, if this is off topic, as I surely don't mean it to be, please write me off list, but was wondering, on the other platform, there is a player I use all the time to determine the length of a file, and I'm able to jump to a specific point in the given file, in case I get distracted, and I'm wondering how or if it is even possible to do this with itunes, as that player now is the default player for mp3's? Thanks in advance, but if this won't work with itunes, which player will accomplish this on the mac?
